Nate reports successful compilation and running on OS/2 using the EMX
emulator with gcc 1.2. He also reports successful running on NT using the
OS/2 binary (as long as you compile with EMX with the -v1 switch)

Cygnus Win32 GCC (http://sources.redhat.com/cygwin): (TESTED AND RECOMMENDED)
  * Works with latest version of cygwin.
  * In the setup program, download AT LEAST the following packages:
    (you may skip all the rest by clicking on the package version, which
     will change the selection to 'Skip')
    ash, autoconf, automake, bash, binutils, byacc, bzip2, clear, cygwin, 
    fileutils, gawk, gcc, grep, gzip, login, make, sed, sh-utils, tar, 
    textutils, w32api
    (or just download all of the packages in the Base and Devel categories 
     (click on 'Default' to 'Install'))
  * See caveats below.
For Borland C++ v4.5 and v5.0: (NOT TESTED)
  * Load the file into the IDE and select WIN32 Console app, static
    libraries and turn off all compiler warnings.
Microsoft: (NOT TESTED)
  * Should work in the same way but it hasn't been tested.

Running on Cygwin has the following additional functional disadvantages:

* MUST use SMTP option for external/forwarding email (see MAILPROG variable
  in hdrfiles/constants.h). If you can call that a disadvantage *shrug*
  You don't really LOSE anything. For a really nice small, free, mail 
  server to use with ncohafmuta, download SMarTPost from: 
  http://www.freddys-utilities.co.uk/smtp/index.php
  and then set your MAILPROG variable to 127.0.0.1:25
* soft-rebooting kills all talker network sockets, so does NOT work. Jazzin
  reports though, that on WinXP it DOES work, so it may be dependent on the
  windows platform and cygwin version.

Running on a Windows OS (NOT CYGWIN - i.e. Borland, Visual C++) has the 
following functional disadvantages:

* any function using popen() does not work
* not being able to use the backup or restore scripts
* not being able to start or reboot with ./restart
* not being able to shutdown with ./shutdown
* can't use resolver_clipon
